Patio Misters

When summer heats up (and it will in California) everyone is looking for a way to beat the heat. If you want to stay cool in your outdoor space you may want to consider patio misters. A patio misting system can provide hours of ultra fine mist that cools the air on your patio or deck. Misting systems can be fueled by your home water supply. Patio Misters are also a great way to keep your plants cool and hydrated during the scorching summer months.

Here are a few things to consider when installing patio misters to your outdoor living space.

Installation of Patio Misters

A misting system for your outdoor space is actually a rather simple system. Most systems are a network of hoses (or pipes) and sprinkler heads attached to a compressor and a water supply.

Misting systems can be affixed to permanent overhead structures as well as temporary ones. Patio World’s 10 locations throughout California has many different pavilions and canopies to choose from that can have misting systems attached to them. Often, the trickiest part can be keeping the water lines out of plain sight. Hiring someone to install the systems properly is usually the biggest expense. Because water is involved and the installation can be time consuming, it’s probably best to hire a professional to install the system correctly.

Height of Patio Misters

Many misting systems need to be installed a certain height to ensure that the water has enough space to travel to become a fine mist. If the water doesn’t go far enough, it can cause objects under the sprinklers to become wetter than desired. This can be very annoying and is another great reason to consider having the system professionally installed.

The Compressor for Your Patio Misters

The compressor is a vital part of the misting systems because it supplies the pressure needed to force the water out of the small holes in the sprinkler head that creates the mist. When choosing a compressor you need to consider the path the water must take to reach the heads, the height the sprinkler heads are mounted at, and the total length that the water must travel to reach all of the sprinkler heads.

These are just a few things to consider if you are thinking about adding some patio misters to your outdoor space.

Artisan Anything

From kettle-cooked potato chips to macro-brews, artisanal is taking over. But it’s not just with our food, it’s with our homes too. What does this mean? It means finding one great handmade piece, or better yet having one commissioned by a local furniture maker, carpenter or artist. This could be a custom made dining table, conversation table, fire pit, etc. You get one great unique item, then use more traditional items around it.

Mis-Matching Patterns

Stripes with paisley? Geometric patterns with floral? Animal print with herringbone? Aztec with plaid? Polka dots with chevron? That’s right folks! The more you think it doesn’t work, the more boho-chic it is. We’re not just talking mixing “clashing” patterns either, we’re talking mixing cultures. A little Moroccan here a little Mexican there. A little SE Asian here a little Peruvian there. Just make sure the patterns have a color bringing them together and a nice solid balancing them out.

Bold and Bright Colors

We not working on a 2 or 3 color palette anymore, folks. When it comes to colors, think the more the merrier. Bold and bright colors are all the rage right now, and we want as many as possible, in as many places as possible. Throw caution to the wind – candles, lanterns, umbrellas, cushions, rugs, throw pillows, etc. Bright! Fun! Fantastic!

Radically Repurposed

What can be more eco-friendly than finding a new purpose for an old item? Repurposing isn’t just good for the environment, it’s incredibly in style right now. Take your old boots and plant succulents in them. Take an old bike, spray-paint it a monochromatic pastel color and plant some ivy in its basket. Paint an old dresser some fresh and funky colors and plant different herbs in each partially pulled out drawer. You can repurpose as big or as small as you want.

From turning your old junk into new treasure to adding all kinds of patterns and colors to your patio, we hope you try at least one of these top patio trends out this season. All of these patio trends are really all about making your patio unique and absolutely “yours”.  Be bold! Be courageous! Make your neighbors jealous!
