Many of us cling to the long days of summer, where warm breezes blow and the glowing sunsets last well after 8pm. In the background of your favorite summer evenings having a baseball game on the radio or gathering to watch together with family and friends makes for a perfect summer night. As Mother Nature ushers out the warm breezes and late sunsets she welcomes in cool nights, perfect for sipping your favorite beverage, with friends in your outdoor living area. Baseball can keep us feeling like summer through October, with the Major League Baseball Playoffs. What better way to hang onto the fairest season by watching the boys of summer battle it out for a shot at the World Series Trophy in your outdoor living space?
Here are some tips on how to make the best of the MLB playoffs and keep summer close.
1) Know which teams are in the Playoffs dand the format in which they play.
10 teams make the postseason, 5 American League Teams and 5 National League teams. Baseball playoffs are set up in series . The first round is the Wildcard play-in, where the winner plays the team from their league (either American or National) with the best record. Next comes the League Divisional Series which is a best of 5 series. Winner of the divisional series go to the League Championship Series. This is a best of 7 series. The winner of the League Championship series then compete in the World Series, also a best of 7 contest.
2) Know the Schedule.
The easiest and best way to ensure you know the schedule is to look online for game times. It is not uncommon for teams to come from opposite coasts, so game times can vary. Mlb.com or ESPN.com are excellent resources. Knowing the schedule will help you pick the best time to plan a party on your patio or outdoor living space.
3) Dress up your outdoor living space to support your favorite team.
Maybe you’re an East Coast transplant and your team, the New York Yankees, are in the Wild Card race. This means they’ve got to win the most games to get to the World Series…to which they are no strangers. If you’re a die hard Yankee fan, you’ll have no problem finding team branded apparel or decorations for your patio. Same goes for California’s 2017 wonder team the Los Angeles Dodgers. Go ahead and bring out your fan gear so your family and friends can see your allegiance!
4) Plan a Party
There’s nothing better than your team being in the baseball postseason. So, why not celebrate? Pick up your favorite drinks paired with some tasty snacks and call over your fellow fans to bask in postseason glory or the agony of defeat together.
If you feel your outdoor living space could use a bit more appeal to make your playoff party slightly more comfortable or (as they say in baseball) take your patio from the minors to majors, stop by any of 10 California wide Patio World Locations.
