As the holidays quickly approach, there’s no better place for a socially distanced Holiday party than your patio. Get comfy around the firepit, turn on the Christmas tunes, and celebrate 2020 drawing to an end. And what’s a party without a few cocktails?! Here are a few of our favorite hot cocktail recipes, with or without alcohol, to keep you and your guests warm on those chilly patio nights.
Mulled Wine
A traditional drink for the Christmas season, mulled wine is a favorite in many European countries and each area has put its own spin on this warm cocktail. The base is the same – red wine with a mix of warming winter spices, such as cloves, star anise, and cinnamon, and typically garnished with orange slices. A perfect way to make mulled wine and keep it warm for your guests is this slow cooker recipe.
Eggnog
Would it even be the holidays without eggnog? This Christmas classic can be made with or without alcohol, buying the premade eggnog at your local grocery store and then spiking it with whatever alcohol you like. The most common base is bourbon, but you can also use whiskey, rum, Bailey’s, or Kahlua. Or you can go the even easy route and purchase the Kirkland Brand Eggnog at Costco, which already has the alcohol.
Hot Chocolate
If you haven’t heard about the newest rage, “Hot Chocolate Bombs”, you are in for a treat! The concept couldn’t be more ingenious – place a chocolate ball, which is filled with hot cocoa mix and marshmallows, in a mug. Then pour hot milk over the “bomb” and watch the milk and chocolate combine right before your eyes! The kids will love these hot chocolate bombs and the adults will too, with a splash of Bailey’s, Kahlua, or Rumchata. Check out this recipe to make your own hot chocolate bombs.
These are just 3 of many options for staying warm during your holiday festivities with a patio cocktail! A socially distanced patio party with the perfect cocktails is sure to be a hit with friends and family!
