Back to School Patio Fun

With the start of a new school year just around the corner, you want to make the most out of your last few days of summer.  We know it’s always a sad feeling, as summertime winds down, but fret not, there’s still time to enjoy some back-to-school patio fun before the kids start the new school year and their days are spent in the classroom.

Here are a few fun activities to enjoy outdoors on the patio with your kids, before they load up their backpacks and head back to their classrooms.

Backyard Camping
back to schoolWith school right around the corner, you might not have the time to pack up the car for a trip, but who says you have to travel a long way to enjoy a night under the stars? Set up the tent in your very own backyard and have one final family camping trip from the comfort of your own backyard. Light the “campfire” (check out our fire pit selection) and settle in with the kids for a night roasting hot dogs, telling a ghost story, and of course, indulging in our favorite campfire snack, s’mores. Check out some of these fun recipes that may deviate a little from the normal s’more but we promise you’ll love them.

Movie Night
Host a movie night on your patio with a back-to-school theme. Prepare all your favorite movie snacks: candy, soda, and of course popcorn. Then set up the projector, and make a fun place for the kids to relax and enjoy the show. Choose a movie that will get the kids excited to start the new school year. A couple of our favorites include School of Rock, Matilda, and if you want to make it a marathon, settle in for a few nights and watch allll of the Harry Potter series.

One Last Hurrah
And finally, as the hot summer days draw to an end and kids are getting back into school mode, why not go nuts and have a good old-fashioned water balloon fight in the backyard?! We like these water balloons because they are easy for kids to fill themselves, so you won’t spend the entire afternoon filling and tying water balloons. And if you prefer to keep it calmer, but still want the kids to cool off, check out these water balloon games you can play in the backyard.

We hope that you and your kids had a great summer and everyone is ready to start off the 2021-2022 school year!
